Getting Around The Local Area By Bike

Depending on how confident and fit a cyclist you are, there are a range of destinations that can be accessed by bike from Spencer Grange.

Skipton town centre can be accessed in just 5 minutes via Otley Road, with the train station taking just over 5 minutes to reach. When considering traffic and the time it can take to park, cycling may be quicker than a journey by car!

The Skipton-Liverpool Canal is 127 miles long and provides a great route for walkers and cyclists alike! You can reach the canal at Belmont Wharf in less than 5 minutes. If you fancy a leisurely cycle ride, you can follow the canal to Gargrave village where you’ll find a range of retail and leisure amenities including cafes and pubs. This will take you around 30 minutes each way (a journey of 8km / 5 miles). Alternatively, it’s around a 10km ride to Silsden via the canal. Here you’ll find a number of independent shops, bars and restaurants.

The Yorkshire Dales Cycleway is designed to start and finish in Skipton. This 210km (130 mile) circular route goes through most of the major dales in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
